Opportunity Summary 

Analyzing and reviewing client accounting records and financial statements
• Evaluating internal accounting control systems, audit risk, materiality and
compliance with generally accepted auditing standards via inquiry,
observation and review
• Assist in creating detailed workpapers to support the accounting work done
• Assist in preparing tax returns and financial statements
• Proofreading (to become familiar with a wide range of reports)
• Miscellaneous tasks as assigned 

Tasks:

The intern will demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes by being able to complete basic individual and corporate tax returns by the end of their internship. They will get an understanding of how we start with the companies internal financials, make necessary book to tax adjustments and properly identify where that information needs to be put on a tax return.

Training:

The student will attend a mandatory orientation when they begin their internship and will go through roughly 1-2 weeks of training with our staff to understand what they will be doing and getting an introduction to our software and procedures. They will then be given work that will be overseen by our staff and reviewed by our team members to ensure that they receive feedback and training on how they are doing. The student is assigned a buddy that will help them integrate with the team and assist with various questions that come up.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to assist with preparing basic individual and corporate tax returns, review client documents, use GoSystems tax software and various other tax software programs.
