About CORE Athletic Training:

Based out of Newport Beach, CORE Athletic Training is a youth sports academy devoted to using sports as a vehicle to positively impact the lives of children. We believe participation in sports offers the perfect avenue for children to increase self-confidence, improve athletic and social skills, and strengthen essential values. Through After School and Weekend Programs, Recess Enrichment Programs, Camps, Sports Leagues, and Sports Parties, CORE brings children together from various schools around Orange County with the goal of instilling a love for sports and physical activity. 

About the Position:

CORE Athletic Training, the fastest-growing youth sports academy in Orange County, is seeking a bright, personable, and highly motivated individual for our Internship Program. This position will offer you an opportunity to work closely with CORE’s leaders and provide you with exposure to the inner-workings of a young, thriving company. 

In this internship, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of social media strategy, including how to create engaging content, boost engagement, and build an authentic online community. You’ll gain hands-on experience designing social media plans for platforms such as Instagram. Learn how to craft content that captures our mission, communicate directly with our audience, and leverage digital media, influencer collaborations, and interactive campaigns. Beyond social media, you'll be exposed to the operational side of running a youth sports academy, with opportunities to contribute to exciting program initiatives.

Social Media Intern Duties:

  • Learn, understand, and be able to effectively communicate CORE’s mission and values as a company, and the value and benefits of CORE programs.
  • When in-field, support the CORE Coaching approach by fostering a positive environment for youth through concepts grounded in sport psychology.

  • Assist in developing and implementing social media strategies tailored to CORE’s mission and audience.
  • Attend various in-field programs, such as After-School Programs or Weekend Basketball Leagues, to gather content.
  • Create engaging, high-quality content that reflects CORE’s brand voice, such as photos and reels.

  • Track and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of content and engagement strategies.
  • Report on social media insights and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Stay informed about social media trends to enhance CORE’s digital presence.

  • Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas.
  • Provide administrative support as needed to ensure smooth social media operations.

Tasks:

Students will assist in developing and executing social media strategies aligned with CORE Athletic Training’s mission and target audience. Duties include creating and editing high-quality digital content (photos, videos, and reels), writing captions, and managing content calendars for platforms such as Instagram.

Students will attend in-field programs (after-school programs, camps, and leagues) to capture content and ensure accurate brand representation. They will analyze social media performance using platform analytics, track engagement metrics, and provide recommendations to improve reach and effectiveness.

Additional responsibilities include conducting research on social media trends and competitor strategies, participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, and contributing ideas for marketing campaigns and program promotion. Students may also assist with influencer outreach and community engagement initiatives.

Training:

Students will receive an initial general orientation covering CORE Athletic Training’s mission, programs, and expectations. Throughout the internship, they will have weekly one-on-one meetings with a mentor for guidance, feedback, and goal-setting.

Training will include job shadowing in both social media and in-field program settings, along with hands-on experience in content creation, social media strategy, and platform management. Students will be provided with examples, templates, and clear expectations for assignments.

They will also learn how to track and analyze social media performance using platform insights, with regular feedback to improve their work. Additional learning will come through team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and staying up to date on social media trends.

Learning Outcome:

1. Social Media Strategy & Content Creation
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to develop and implement a strategic social media plan, including creating engaging content (posts, reels, and stories) that aligns with CORE Athletic Training’s brand and mission.

2. Audience Engagement & Communication
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to effectively communicate with and engage an online audience by responding to interactions, building community, and promoting CORE programs through authentic and consistent messaging.

3. Data Analysis & Performance Tracking
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to analyze social media metrics (engagement, reach, growth) and use insights to make data-driven recommendations for improving content and overall digital performance.
