Resident Care AssistantAt — ParkVista @ Morningside

The Resident Care Assistant (RCA) performs personal care and non-personal care assistance to residents with activities of daily living in a manner that enhances the resident’s sense of personal choice and autonomy. The RCA takes a holistic approach to meet resident needs including assisting with meal service in the dining room, maintain clean and organized living space and engaging the resident in activities that enrich their lives. 

Tasks:

Assisting/providing hand over hand with resident's personal care needs- dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, personal grooming, assisting resident with transfers, help redirect/de-escalate resident behaviors, help with activities.

Training:

initial training on positive physical approach to take care of the resident physical needs and how to effectively communicate with resident with dementia. Regular weekly meeting to review progress and provide mentorship.

Learning Outcome:

supports the residents’ personal care needs to include but not limited to dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising. Assists with organizing and coordinating activities for the residents to see that their daily personal activity needs are met. Provides mobility support and escorts residents as needed.
