Opportunity Summary

Lights, Community, Action!

Are you passionate about community media and public service?

The Public Access Digital Network (PADNET) is now accepting internship applications for Summer 2026!

PADNET offers unpaid, for-credit college internships for students who are interested in media production and currently enrolled in an educational institution. This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to learn more about Public Access TV, community media, and nonprofit organizations.

What is PADNET?

PADNET is Long Beach's Public Access TV station (Spectrum 32/Frontier 41) and community media center. Dedicated to empowering local voices, PADNET offers affordable media training classes, video equipment, an HD multi-camera community media studio, and production services to help creators bring their stories to life!

PADNET is a program of the Long Beach Community Action Partnership (LBCAP), a nonprofit agency committed to helping people today build their tomorrow through essential services, youth development, local partnerships, and advocacy.

Internship Overview

For Summer 2026, the internship will run from June 8th - August 17th. Applicants must commit to working 10+ hours per week, be available for an evening production event on Thursday, August 6, 2026, 2PM-10PM, and available to work on Mondays 10AM-4PM. Additional weekly hours will be scheduled based on intern availability.

Earn college credit as you learn how a public access television station and community media center operates behind the scenes. You will gain hands-on experience in studio and field production (e.g. camera, lighting, audio, editing, producing), support PADNET members with their projects, and build your own portfolio as you create impactful community media.

Interns have opportunities to edit short promos, public service announcements, and long-form programming using Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro, as well as practice using After Effects, Photoshop, and Canva for graphic creation. Content will be used to promote PADNET on social media.

To support our daily operations and goals, interns are trained on best practices for customer service to assist and engage with our PADNET members and foster our community of content creators. Interns will also be asked to perform administrative tasks.
