What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a visually curious, detail-oriented creative thinker who is excited by storytelling, design, and event production. The ideal candidate enjoys both collaborating with a team and owning tasks independently, asks thoughtful questions, and thrives in a fast-moving, evolving environment.

Qualifications:

  • Basic familiarity with workplace productivity tools (Office, Google Workspace, Slack)
  • Basic literacy in 2D or 3D creative/design software (Adobe products, Keynote, PowerPoint, Figma)
  • Strong time management skills
  • Honest understanding of personal strengths and areas for improvement
  • Genuine interest in event production
  • Good written, verbal, and/or visual communication skills
  • Strong interest in storytelling in all its forms
  • Curiosity, initiative, and resourcefulness in finding answers to questions

Responsibilities – New Business Support:

  • Design and craft social media posts and templates (custom graphics, Canva templates, Instagram reels, LinkedIn banners)
  • Research competitor social media, websites, and other external communications
  • Support new business teams on proposals and RFP responses as needed
  • Research potential clients, potential shows, and emerging markets

Responsibilities – Creative Project Support:

  • Research and price props, décor, and scenic elements
  • Prepare presentations of options (furniture, graphics, venues, entertainment, etc.)
  • Check documents for accuracy and confirm they reflect the most current information
  • Review documents for spelling and readability
  • Assist in archiving data, assets, and documentation when a show is complete
  • Research new technology and its potential applications
  • Assist graphic designers, motion designers, and production designers as needed

Responsibilities – Production Support:

  • Improve internal documentation processes using existing tools (Office, PowerPoint, Keynote, Monday, Slack)
  • Schedule and attend meetings as required

Professional Development:

  • Meet weekly with the supervisor to report on learnings, opportunities, and next steps
  • Meet regularly with staff to learn more about their roles and how they work
  • Report out to a small group to summarize and debrief the internship experience

Tasks:

1. Design and produce basic marketing and new business assets, including social media posts, templates, and simple pitch/proposal visuals.
2. Research competitors, potential clients, shows, markets, and relevant technologies, and synthesize findings into concise summaries or presentation slides.
3. Support creative project teams by sourcing and pricing props/décor, preparing option decks, and assisting designers with asset prep and file organization.
4. Perform quality checks on documents and presentations for accuracy, currency of information, spelling, readability, and visual consistency.
5. Support production workflows by updating internal templates and documentation, helping with scheduling, and attending meetings to track next steps.
6. Engage in professional development activities, including regular check-ins with a supervisor, shadowing staff, and delivering a final reflection or presentation on the internship experience.

Training:

General orientation
• Initial employer orientation to TENCUE’s mission, culture, and structure, along with an overview of live event production workflows and core tools (Office/Google, Slack, project management, file systems).

Role- and task-specific training
• Walkthroughs of typical new business, creative, and production deliverables (social media templates, pitch decks, research summaries, show documents) using recent work samples as models.
• Guided practice in using Adobe/Keynote/PowerPoint or similar tools to build slides, graphics, and simple motion assets under staff supervision.

Ongoing mentorship and feedback
• Weekly one-on-one meetings with the Director of Brand & Design, Marketing Manager, and other marketing team leads to review assignments, discuss learnings, and set goals for the following week.
• Regular opportunities to meet with TENCUE staff in different roles (creative, production, business development) for job shadowing, Q&A, and process overviews.

Professional development and self-directed learning
• Support in defining additional learning objectives during the first week, followed by check-ins on progress throughout the term.
• Access to internal documentation, reference materials, and example assets to deepen understanding of event production and creative workflows

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
1. Apply 2D/3D design and visual storytelling skills to support real-world B2B and B2C event experiences, including marketing, pitch, and show deliverables.
2. Conduct structured research (competitors, audiences, technologies, props, venues) and synthesize findings into clear visual presentations and recommendations for creative and production teams.
3. Use industry-standard tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Keynote/PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Slack, project tools) to manage time, communicate effectively, and contribute to a fast-paced creative production workflow.
4. Demonstrate attention to detail and quality control by reviewing, organizing, and archiving creative and production documents, assets, and show materials.
5. Build professional skills through mentorship, cross-functional shadowing, and regular reflection, articulating specific areas of growth and next steps in their creative career path.
