Summary

SEW.AI is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our Finance team. As an Accounting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the financial process and gain systems experience in various accounting systems. You will support the accounts payable and receivable process, playing a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records. You will work collaboratively with our Finance department to support the financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist the AVP of Finance with daily tasks and functions.
• Support day-to-day Accounts Payable tasks
• Perform reconciliations and Accounts Receivable schedule reconciliations
• Help maintain filing systems and organize documentation
• Assisting with research, filing, and recording to maintain accurate and complete financial records.
• Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determines corrective entries to maintain accounting controls.
• Support the employee expense process
• Schedule meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and understand internal workflows.

Requirements

• The candidate must either be a recent graduate or in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Proficiency in Excel
• Eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
• Possess strong written/verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational/time management skills

Training:

Employer orientation, regular weekly meeting to review progress and provide mentorship, job shadowing of mentor, overview of assigned tasks

Learning Outcome:

The student will be able to perform reconciliations and gain hands on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities. The student will be able to prepare, organize, and maintain accurate financial records and documentation. The student will learn how to process month-end closing procedures.
