Preschool/Floater TeacherAt — Geneva Children's Center
The Floater Teacher’s typical tasks can include:
- Replacing a teacher who called in sick.
- Breaking teachers, giving toilet breaks, nap time, teacher lunches, etc.
- Making sure that our classes uphold the ratio and fill in if necessary.
- Escorting children to the bathroom and changing diapers.
- Helping classes transition from classrooms to playground/chapel time.
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and helping maintain classroom cleanliness.
- Resupplying classrooms and/or helping teachers get supplies.
- Helping our teachers with anything they may need assistance with.
- It may be the duty of floaters to open and/or close the school also. You’ve got to be comfortable engaging with parents and saying friendly hello/goodbyes.
Tasks:
*Set up our Nature Explorer outdoor space
*Responsible for our covered outdoor classroom set up
*Enhancing our mud kitchen
*Setting up various additional activities in water and sensory tables
*Making sure children are greeted in the morning at arrival time
Training:
*Have experience opening a preschool and making sure to know the licensing regulations that need to be met for the safety of the preschool.
*Meet with the intern once a week to check in and see if they need additional guidance with anything.
*Have intern learn about our Nature Explorer outdoor program we have for our playground.
*Guide and teach the intern the purpose of a \\mud kitchen\\ and let them develop a curriculum for the mud kitchen.
Learning Outcomes:
*Help us build early morning drop off routines.
*Observe and model effective teaching practices.
*Build and enhance our outdoor play environment with developmental outdoor activities
*Learn how to build trust with the children to be able to see the children's full potential
