Opportunity Summary 

Olive is seeking compassionate and dependable Interns to support our seniors and help create a warm, engaging, and respectful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with activities, games, and social programs for seniors

  • Provide friendly conversation and companionship

  • Support event setup, serving refreshments, and light clean-up

  • Help staff with basic administrative or organizational tasks

  • Ensure a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for all participants

Tasks:

- Assist with the planning, coordination, and facilitation of senior programs, activities, and events.
- Engage directly with seniors through conversation, recreational activities, and social support to promote inclusion and community connection.
- Support outreach and communication efforts, including preparing materials, reminders, and participant engagement initiatives.
- Assist with administrative and organizational tasks such as scheduling support, attendance tracking, data entry, filing, and program preparation.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers during team meetings, event preparation, and daily operations.
- Apply professional communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a nonprofit community setting.
- Participate in program evaluation and providing feedback or ideas to improve participant experience and organizational effectiveness.
- Assist with event setup, coordination, and breakdown while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for participants.

Training:

Interns will receive a structured orientation and ongoing mentorship throughout their placement to support their learning and professional development. Training will begin with a general organizational orientation covering Olive’s mission, expectations, professionalism, confidentiality, communication guidelines, and senior engagement best practices.

Interns will also receive hands-on guidance through job shadowing, observation of programs and activities, and step-by-step instruction for assigned responsibilities. Supervisors and staff members will provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and contextualization of tasks to help students understand the purpose and impact of their work within the organization. Regular check-ins will be conducted to support student growth, answer questions, and ensure learning outcomes are being met throughout the placement.
