Description of Tasks

The Bookkeeping Intern will assist the accounting and operations team with daily administrative and financial tasks. Responsibilities may include:

Entering and updating financial data in accounting systems and spreadsheets
Organizing invoices, receipts, loan files, and other financial documents
Assisting with bank and credit card reconciliations
Tracking accounts payable and accounts receivable activity
Supporting the preparation of internal financial reports
Maintaining accurate and organized electronic and physical records
Assisting with data verification and auditing for accuracy
Supporting office administrative tasks and special projects as assigned
Learning and assisting with bookkeeping processes related to private real estate lending operations
Collaborating with team members in a professional office environment while maintaining confidentiality of financial information

Training:

Students participating in this internship will receive structured training and hands-on guidance designed to support their professional and educational development. Training will include:

Initial company orientation covering workplace expectations, office procedures, confidentiality, professionalism, and company policies.
Introduction to JCAP’s private lending business model, including residential investment and small balance commercial lending operations.
Training on bookkeeping procedures, financial recordkeeping, data entry standards, and document organization.
Hands-on instruction using accounting and productivity software such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
Guidance on reconciling transactions, tracking expenses, organizing invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.
Ongoing supervision and mentorship from experienced team members to review work, answer questions, and provide feedback.
Exposure to professional communication practices, time management, teamwork, and real-world business operations in a fast-paced office environment.
