Farmers' Market AssistantAt — Food Access LA
Food Access Los Angeles currently runs 9 farmers’ markets in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. All our markets are run with food access needs and community service in mind. We offer additional benefits and incentives to EBT customers, work to support small CA farms, and incubate local small food businesses. With a growing to-do list of all the tasks we need to get done once we have the time, we are seeking interns with a passion for public health, food accessibility, sustainable food systems, and local agriculture. This internship will involve assisting farmers’ market managers in various tasks that require additional support such as: Executing community programs and events Conducting local outreach Collecting market data Distributing food benefits and incentives Food rescue and distribution Supporting urban growers and agricultural events
Students will have learned the importance of having a farmers' market as a community hub and how supporting local farmers is beneficial to the health and livelihood of all Angelenos.
Students will have an orientation in our office to review expectations and responsibilities. Training will also occur on site at the market as they are assigned tasks.
Wear close toed shoes and bring your own water bottle.
Students will be interviewed over video once their application have been reviewed. The interview will determine if their skillsets and schedule are a good fit for our markets.
