Opportunity Summary 

Students will actively contribute to business operations, gaining hands-on experience in the day-to-day management of a small business while focusing on areas that align with their interests and career goals. Opportunities may include production, administration, retail operations, visual merchandising, or social media management. Our goal is to encourage students to explore their passions, develop practical skills, and gain meaningful real-world experience.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

By the end of this opportunity, students will have developed a practical understanding of small business operations, strengthened their professional and communication skills, and gained hands-on experience in an area of interest such as production, administration, retail, visual merchandising, or social media management. Students will also have enhanced their problem-solving abilities, workplace readiness, and confidence in applying their skills in a real-world business environment.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive an initial orientation with how to safely work around space (use ladders, cutting, picking up heavy items, etc.). They will work with site manager daily to ensure they are confident in their skills/tasks. We do not like to micromanage but the students should feel confident in their abilities or comfortable to ask help daily if needed.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Student safety is a top priority. All students will receive an orientation covering workplace safety policies, emergency procedures, and proper workplace conduct before beginning their duties. Students will be trained on the safe use of any tools, equipment, or materials relevant to their assignments. Staff members will provide ongoing supervision and ensure that students follow established safety procedures at all times, and students will be encouraged to report any safety concerns immediately. Emergency contact information, first aid resources, and evacuation procedures will be readily available and reviewed.
