Week 1 – Orientation & Observation (12 hours)
The intern will complete onboarding, review safety procedures, learn daily routines, and observe experienced staff. They will begin assisting with basic classroom support and student supervision.

Week 2 – Assisted Practice (12 hours)
The intern will begin actively supporting daily activities such as academic enrichment, arts and crafts, and outdoor recreation. They will practice behavior management strategies with staff guidance.

Week 3 – Increased Responsibility (12 hours)
The intern will take on more responsibility in leading small group activities, supporting student learning, and helping manage transitions and classroom routines.

Week 4 – Independent Support & Collaboration (12 hours)
The intern will independently support activities with supervision, collaborate with staff on lesson planning, and continue strengthening classroom management and student engagement skills.

Week 5 – Wrap-Up & Reflection (12 hours)
The intern will continue full participation in all duties, reflect on overall learning, receive final feedback from supervisor, and complete any remaining assignments or documentation for internship completion.

To help the intern achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will start with an orientation to the program so they understand daily routines, safety procedures, expectations, and their role in the classroom.

The intern will have ongoing daily check-ins with supervising staff to ask questions, get support, and receive feedback while working with students.

They will also meet with their supervisor on a weekly basis to talk about progress, reflect on what’s going well, and go over any areas that need improvement.

Most of the training will also happen through hands-on experience, where the intern learns by observing staff, then practicing activities and behavior management strategies with support.

The intern will also work with the team during staff meetings and activity planning so they can learn how lessons and daily activities are organized.

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to apply child and adolescent development concepts to support the learning, behavior, and emotional needs of elementary-aged children in a structured program setting.
By the end of the internship, the student will be able to plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote positive youth development, creativity, and academic enrichment.

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to demonstrate effective classroom and behavior management strategies to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

• The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by assisting in the planning and implementation of daily summer camp activities, including academic enrichment, arts and crafts, and recreational games for elementary-aged students.

• The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by working directly with students in small groups and one-on-one settings to support academic, social, and emotional development.

• The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by collaborating with supervisors and staff to prepare materials, organize activities, and reflect on student engagement and progress.

• The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by observing student behavior and participation, documenting observations, and adjusting support strategies as needed.
