Children's Ministry Internship (22 Weeks)

8 hours per week

Goal / Objective

Growth opportunities with technical, hands-on help from the Journey Church Children's Director and Ministry Leaders, as well as experience working with the church as a whole. Close proximity to the Journey Church leadership team and growth in the areas of classroom management, volunteer leadership, and family discipleship. Personal development from a biblical, Christian standpoint. Gain experience for future career opportunities within church ministry. Development of leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• College / University Student 
• Passion and competency for working with children (Infants through Elementary)
• Time Commitment & Time Management (see below for details)
• Communication and Computer Skills
• Organization, Planning, and Classroom Management skills
• Open to feedback and learning
• Moral conduct and behavior consistent with biblical standards
• Successful completion of a Background Check / LiveScan
• A desire to serve within the local church and willingness to enter into a discipleship-style relationship

Weekly Expectations

Sunday 4PM, Worship Service (4 hrs)

• Serve in the area of: Nursery / Preschool / Elementary Classrooms / Secure Check-In
• Includes Classroom Set Up / Tear Down & organizing curriculum bins
• Lead / Provide Devo for pre-service Children's Ministry volunteer huddle & prayer (when asked)
• Willing to lead Bible storytelling, large group games, or worship motions when asked

Weekly 1:1 Meeting (30 min – 1 hr)

• Share researched ideas, questions, wins, growth opportunities, lessons learned from devos and reading, and review shared feedback
• In person or phone call
• Sign off on weekly hours

Church Meetings 

• Team Night Dates: 2nd Tuesday of the month @ 7pm 
• Core Team Meeting Dates: 4th Tuesday of the month @ 7pm

Tasks:

Assist in class, attend weekly and bi-weekly meetings, and leaving a positive vibe with the children.

Training:

The most valuable training will be obtained through the mentorship that will take place within our organizations leadership structure. We have people on our team from all walks of life and serve wholeheartedly.

Learning OUtcome: 

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to develop lesson plans, have experience working in early childhood environments, and grow as a person and leader.
