Job Description

Mission Statement Since opening in 2011, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House has provided comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California. The House raises funds to provide a home away from home for families with critically ill children. Everything is provided—from housing to hot meals—so families can focus on their child’s care. Our hope is to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy by keeping families close to each other and the care they need.

Position Summary 

The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House Marketing Intern works under the supervision of the Development Manager and supports marketing and communication efforts to raise awareness and promote community engagement.

Interns will gain experience in nonprofit marketing, digital communication, social media strategy, and community outreach. Part-time internships are available year-round with flexible scheduling. Internships are unpaid.

• Assist in developing and scheduling social media content across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) to highlight volunteer stories, family impact, and upcoming events.

• Support the creation and editing of marketing materials, newsletters, press releases, and website updates.
 

Desired Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• High attention to detail and organizational skills

• Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing tools

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required

• Experience with Canva, Photoshop, or other design tools a plus

• Creative thinker with a willingness to learn and contribute ideas

Opportunity Training 

Key Responsibilities Marketing and Communications Support

• Research and compile media contacts, community partners, and potential outreach opportunities. • Assist in gathering photos, stories, and testimonials to support marketing campaigns.

• Track engagement metrics and assist in analyzing campaign performance.

• Provide marketing support for key fundraising events such as the Walk for Kids and A Few Good Men & Women Gala.

• Assist with general office tasks (filing, organizing, answering phones, etc.) as needed.

Opportunity Application Instructions 

Time Commitment: We will work with the education institution to meet academic credit requirements if applicable. Must meet at least a three-month internship agreement.
