Occupational Therapy AideAt — OT Park Occupational and Physical Therapy Inc.

Supported the OT Park team by assisting with non-clinical tasks that enhanced daily clinic operations and the family experience. Helped create marketing and educational materials, prepared treatment rooms and therapy supplies, organized and sanitized equipment, and assisted therapists with session setup and cleanup. Welcomed and supported client families, provided general administrative assistance, and contributed to community outreach events. Observed pediatric occupational therapy sessions under the supervision of licensed therapists to gain exposure to pediatric rehabilitation, child development, and family-centered care while maintaining professionalism and patient confidentiality.

1. Observing the ongoing occupational therapy sessions.
2. Organizing the therapy place before and after the session, including sanitizing and clean-up materials.
3. Participate in the activity worksheets and other craft based materials assigned and guided by the therapist.
4. Being Activities assistant (follows therapy team around during session to assist with throwing balls, grabbing activities, etc.)
5. If volunteer/s have special skills and talents such as photography, computer knowledge, lawn work, etc. and we encourage you to share those skills with us! 6. Assist with general office support (data entry, reception, etc.
7. Make notes of potential questions and discuss with the therapist after the session. 8. Do At least two projects such as making therapy related charts, creating a manual, parents support handbook, or any other- therapy related projects that would be useful for ongoing sessions as guided by the assigned volunteer
coordinator/occupational therapist.

Tasks:

Observe pediatric occupational therapy evaluations and intervention sessions under the direct supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists to develop an understanding of clinical reasoning, therapeutic approaches, and family-centered care.
Assist with the preparation of treatment materials and therapeutic activities that support evidence-based pediatric interventions.
Support therapists by organizing treatment environments, maintaining therapy equipment, and preparing session-specific resources to promote efficient clinical service delivery.
Participate in the development of educational resources, marketing materials, and community outreach initiatives to promote pediatric therapy services and health education.
Interact professionally with client families by providing general assistance, welcoming families to the clinic, and supporting a positive client experience while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Attend team meetings, case discussions (when appropriate), and interdisciplinary collaboration activities to gain exposure to healthcare teamwork and clinical operations.
Complete assigned projects related to pediatric occupational therapy, clinic operations, or community education under mentor guidance.
Demonstrate professional behaviors, including ethical conduct, effective communication, time management, teamwork, and adherence to HIPAA and clinic policies throughout the placement.

Training:

The student will participate in an initial orientation covering clinic policies, professionalism, confidentiality (HIPAA), safety procedures, and volunteer expectations. Throughout the placement, the student will receive direct supervision and mentorship from the Clinical Director and designated staff members. Training will include observation (job shadowing) of pediatric occupational therapy sessions, an overview of clinic operations and assigned responsibilities, and hands-on experience with non-clinical tasks such as supporting therapists, assisting client families, preparing treatment materials, and creating educational and marketing resources.

The student will receive regular feedback, opportunities for discussion and reflection, exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration, and guidance to connect classroom knowledge with clinical practice while developing professional communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

The volunteer understands the services provided will be a donation and under no circumstances will expect wages, salary, or benefits from the organization for the services provided within this volunteer agreement
