Assist with evaluating schedule, cost, quantity, and constructability impacts associated with design revisions and changed conditions. Maintain project controls documentation, including change management, procurement, cost tracking, and project logs. Assist with developing and monitoring three-week look-ahead schedules and identifying schedule constraints and coordination needs. Support project cost management by tracking cost codes, reviewing budget performance, and verifying completed quantities for progress payment documentation. Assist with reviewing subcontractor quotations, supplier proposals, procurement records, and supporting documentation for contract compliance. Track agency permits, compliance documentation, and preconstruction regulatory approvals required for upcoming work packages. Participate in project coordination meetings by documenting action items, monitoring follow-up activities, and facilitating communication among project stakeholders. Assist with preparing as-built documentation, turnover records, and project closeout files while supporting the resolution of construction coordination issues through review of contract documents and project records.

Training:

Training will focus on developing practical knowledge in construction project controls, financial tracking, and contract administration. The intern will receive hands-on training in preparing and reviewing Construction Work Plans (CWPs), supporting change management activities, monitoring project schedules and costs, coordinating procurement, maintaining tracking logs, and preparing progress payment documentation.
Additionally, the intern will participate in project coordination meetings, assist with resolving construction coordination issues, and support project closeout activities under the direct guidance of Project Managers and Project Engineers. Regular mentoring and performance feedback will strengthen analytical thinking, technical communication, and construction management skills while supporting heavy civil infrastructure projects.

Learning Outcome:

As an Intern, you will apply your academic knowledge in a professional construction environment while developing advanced competencies in construction project controls, contract administration, project planning, scheduling, cost management, procurement coordination, and project documentation. Building upon foundational field engineering concepts, you will work with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and project controls team to apply construction management principles through project planning, change management, cost and schedule monitoring, progress payment administration, interdisciplinary coordination, and project closeout activities.
