No matter what your subject is, there is almost always an intersection with native plants and urban nature. Business, Economics, Chicano Studies, Accounting, Culinary Arts, Computer Science, Robotics, Environmental Science, Comms, Art, Music, Biology, Activism, Sociology, Theater, Psychology, etc. In this opportunity, we will work with you to craft a role or project that will fulfill your Service Learning requirements, help us advance our mission of restoring nature in the city, and provide fulfillment.
You will learn all about native plants and the importance of incorporating them into urban spaces. You will also simultaneously learn about how important your course or major is even in the world of Native Plants and urban nature restoration.
We have an onboarding process that includes an orientation, lunch (if in-person), role description creation, and goal setting so that you are familiar with our organization and that you know exactly what you will be doing during your time here. You will also be given safety data sheets wherever appropriate.
If working a role in the nursery, garden maintenance, or garden installation, you may work with hazardous horticultural or landscaping materials or tools such as: perlite, pruners, etc. There may also be environmental hazards such as uneven ground.
