Opportunity Summary

We’re seeking a motivated Marketing Intern to gain hands-on experience in both organic and paid social media while using marketing as a force for good. You’ll support mission-driven public health campaigns that help communities access information, resources, and support for healthier lives. Working alongside experienced marketing professionals, you’ll learn how organic content, community engagement, creative strategy, and paid media work together to reach diverse audiences and encourage positive behavior change. You’ll gain exposure to content development, social trends, campaign activations, audience research, paid campaign setup, performance monitoring, optimization, budgeting, and reporting—all while building practical skills and contributing to meaningful work.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of this opportunity, students will gain hands-on knowledge and practical skills across both organic and paid social media marketing while contributing to campaigns focused on important public health issues and supporting healthier communities. Students will learn how social media strategies are developed to reach specific audiences, communicate meaningful information, and support broader campaign and community goals. They will gain an understanding of how organic content, community engagement, creative development, and paid media work together as part of an integrated marketing strategy. Students may develop experience in content planning and scheduling, social media copywriting, trend research, audience insights, community engagement, and performance analysis. They will also gain exposure to paid social media concepts such as audience targeting, campaign objectives, budget management, campaign setup, performance monitoring, optimization, and reporting. Throughout the opportunity, students will strengthen their communication, organization, project management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills while working with experienced marketing professionals. Students will also gain insight into how marketing and communications can be used to address public health topics, promote positive behaviors, connect people with valuable resources, and support the needs of local communities. This experience will provide a unique opportunity to see how mission-driven marketing can create meaningful, measurable impact.

Opportunity Training

Students will receive structured onboarding and ongoing, hands-on training throughout the internship to ensure they are prepared to successfully perform their responsibilities. During the first 1–2 weeks, the intern will receive orientation and training on the organization, public health marketing principles, campaign goals, target audiences, brand standards, social media policies, and workflows. Training will also cover the tools and platforms used for content planning, scheduling, community management, analytics, and paid social media campaign support. Throughout the internship, the student will receive on-the-job training and guidance in organic and paid social media strategy, content development, copywriting, trend and audience research, campaign planning, performance monitoring, analytics, reporting, and optimization. The intern will work closely with experienced marketing professionals who will provide demonstrations, written resources, feedback, and opportunities to observe and gradually take on responsibilities as their skills develop. Regular check-ins and ongoing supervision will provide continued support and opportunities for questions, feedback, and professional development. The intern will not be responsible for independently working with minors or other vulnerable populations; therefore, Mandated Reporter training is not required for this role.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

This is a remote opportunity, and students will perform their responsibilities from an approved remote workspace using organizational communication and collaboration tools. Students will receive guidance on maintaining a safe and professional remote work environment, protecting confidential information, using secure systems and passwords, and following organizational policies for online communication and data privacy.
