Opportunity Summary 

Internship - College Credit

Assignments, tasks and projects may include:

1. Scanning, preparing files, searching for court documents, retrieving documents from Court, archiving.
2. Contact via phone and email to court staff, office staff, etc. Draft letters for attorney.
3. Intake of cases, entering notes, uploading documents,
4. Prepare new files, hearing pleadings, proof of service,
5. Research projects
6. Regularly held meetings with Attorney for feedback and Q&A.

Training is provided through orientation, meetings, webinars, and demonstrations provided at the beginning of each task on a weekly basis. Staff will be assigned to cover different projects with the intern and will also review work and provide feedback and corrections. At the end of the internship, the intern will be provided with an evaluation of their performance.

1. Document / Records – organization, filing, archiving and maintenance as well as court filing procedures.
2. Professional Communication – Proper tone and terms to use when communicating with attorneys, clients and court staff over phone and written communication.
3. Case flow/process for various types of law. – From intake to closing a file.
4. Case Management Systems – My Case; Clio; Best Case
5. Possible opportunities to attend Court proceedings as observer and participate in community events
