Digital Outreach InternAt — California Department of Insurance
The Digital Outreach Intern supports the Department of Insurance by helping to create accessible, engaging digital content that informs and protects consumers. Responsibilities include assisting with social media posts, designing outreach materials, updating website content, monitoring online engagement, and supporting digital campaigns that promote insurance education and consumer resources. The intern will collaborate with outreach staff, contribute creative ideas, and help ensure clear, accurate communication across digital platforms.
• Develop and draft digital outreach content for web pages, social media, newsletters, and consumer\u2011facing materials, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with Department of Insurance communication standards.
• Assist in planning and executing digital outreach campaigns, including researching target audiences, drafting messaging, coordinating timelines, and integrating consumer\u2011protection priorities.
• Monitor and analyze digital engagement data (such as reach, impressions, click\u2011through rates, and user feedback) to identify trends, evaluate outreach effectiveness, and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Review and adapt existing outreach materials to improve accessibility, visual clarity, and alignment with institutional messaging guidelines.
Training:
• Weekly One\u2011on\u2011One Mentor Meetings: Regular check\u2011ins with a designated outreach staff member to review progress, provide guidance, answer questions, and support skill development.
• Job Shadowing: Opportunities to observe staff working on outreach campaigns, content creation, public engagement efforts, and internal communication processes.
