Early Care and Education InternAt — Helping Hands Child Development Center

The early child care intern will assist lead teachers with lesson execution, prepare relevant learning materials, guide children with classroom behavior and procedures, ensure children's safety through constant supervision, maintain classroom materials, assist with classroom routines and rules, and guide children in meeting social, intellectual and physical needs.

Tasks:

Under the Guidance of the lead teacher mentor, duties will typically include:
Developing and delivering interactive lesson plans
Managing classroom activities including play and transitions
Track children's progress
Establish and enforce behavior expectations and classroom rules
Maintain positive relationships among children

Training:

Training will include initial orientation to the Center's policies and procedures, weekly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the student's lead teacher mentor, bi-monthly one-on-one meetings with the Center's director, skills handouts and training, review of lesson planning and/or work samples.

Learning Outcome: 

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to supervise and monitor the safety of children at all times, prepare and organize classroom activities (both indoor and outdoor), develop schedules and routines to ensure children have adequate physical activity, rest and playtime, implement age-appropriate educational activities, and clearly and regularly communicate with lead teachers regarding children's progress and behavior.
