The service learning volunteer will support various internal and external tasks and projects. Students may be asked to assist with a variety of tasks - from working with youth, to maintaining our building, to prepping for events. We welcome gifts and projects from students.
Examples of internal tasks:
Tutoring, participating on a panel, documenting paperwork and data entry, setting up and breaking down rooms for trainings, setting up and cleaning snacks, observing trainings, and more.
Examples of external tasks :
Outreaching at community events, survey collection, tabling, documenting events, creating content and graphics, creating social media strategies for outreaching and fundraising, and more.
Volunteers will develop organizing and campaign skill-building on local issues that impact Southeast Asian youth living in Long Beach, CA. They will strengthen relationships with community members and youth of color across the city through coalition and network building to better understand collective power and youth organizing work. They will get hands-on experiences on projects, campaigns and event planning through a race, class and gender lens that will provide a political and root cause analysis in understanding the issues young people are facing. Volunteers will work directly with our staff team and youth members to gain insight on how to best support youth needs.

We are in a secure, private building, that does not cooperate with ICE. Our building is up to code and well maintained. We have policies for emergencies.
