Opportunity Summary 

Event Coordinator & Promotions Intern:
Supports the planning, coordination, and promotion of DisrupTour Fest. Responsibilities may include assisting with event logistics, vendor and artist coordination, promotional outreach, campus and community marketing, social media support, event-day operations, and coordination with the production team. The intern will gain hands-on experience in live event planning, music marketing, audience development, and festival production.

The student will perform primarily professional and pre-professional duties related to live event production, marketing, and audience development, including:

Assist in planning and coordinating DisrupTour Fest, including production timelines, event logistics, vendor coordination, artist-related logistics, and onsite operational planning.
Develop and support promotional campaigns across social media, campus organizations, community partners, and grassroots outreach channels to increase festival awareness and attendance.
Conduct outreach to colleges, student organizations, local businesses, community groups, and promotional partners and track responses, follow-ups, and campaign progress.
Create and organize marketing content, promotional messaging, outreach materials, and campaign schedules in coordination with the festival marketing and production teams.
Support vendor, partner, and artist coordination by helping track requirements, deadlines, deliverables, communications, and event-day needs.
Monitor promotional performance and audience engagement, review campaign results, and contribute recommendations for improving outreach and attendance strategies.
Participate in production meetings and planning discussions, providing status updates on assigned projects and collaborating with other departments.
Assist with professional event-day operations, including team coordination, vendor and artist support, guest flow, activation support, and execution of planned promotional activities.
Complete a post-event review of assigned responsibilities and promotional efforts, identifying outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for future events.

The student will receive structured training and ongoing supervision throughout the internship, including:

Initial orientation: An introduction to Cage Riot Music Group, Cage Riot Live, DisrupTour Fest, workplace expectations, confidentiality, communication procedures, event structure, and the student’s specific responsibilities.
Role-specific training: Instruction on festival planning, event logistics, promotional outreach, campus/community marketing, vendor and artist coordination, and event-day operations before the student is assigned independent tasks.
Regular supervisor check-ins: Scheduled one-on-one meetings with the internship supervisor to review assignments, answer questions, provide feedback, and connect the student’s work to their learning goals.
Job shadowing and hands-on learning: Opportunities to observe and work alongside members of the production and festival team during planning, marketing, coordination, and live event execution.
Task guidance and work examples: Each major assignment will include context, expectations, examples or templates when appropriate, and feedback on completed work so the student can progressively take on more responsibility.

The student will also receive event-day preparation and safety/operations guidance prior to working onsite at DisrupTour Fest.

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

Plan and coordinate key components of a live music event, including timelines, logistics, vendors, artists, and event-day operations.
Develop and execute promotional strategies designed to increase awareness, engagement, and attendance for a live event.
Apply professional communication skills when working with artists, vendors, partners, campus organizations, and internal production teams.
Use social media, community outreach, and grassroots marketing techniques to support audience development.
Evaluate event and promotional outcomes and identify ways to improve future campaigns and live event execution.
