Program LeaderAt — Creative Brain Learning

• Supervise and ensure the safety of all students in the program at all times.
• Assist with homework and provide academic support as needed.
• Organize and facilitate a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and
  educational games.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and school staff about students'
  progress and any issues that arise.
• Maintain a clean and organized program space.
• Support the development of students' social skills and positive behavior.

Training:

Complete the required general employer orientation to learn program policies, procedures, safety expectations, and responsibilities.
Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with a mentor to discuss progress, challenges, and professional development.
Participate in job shadowing to observe experienced staff members supervising students, providing academic support, and facilitating activities.
Attend workshops and skills-training sessions focused on student supervision, communication, behavior management, activity planning, and academic support.
Review work samples and training materials to better understand expectations and effective practices within the program.
Receive an overview and explanation of assigned tasks, including guidance on how to safely and effectively work with students.
Complete training literature reviews and practical activities or testing to apply and demonstrate knowledge gained throughout the internship.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

Develop and apply effective strategies for supervising students and maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Provide academic support by assisting students with homework, encouraging learning, and adapting support to meet individual student needs.

Plan and facilitate age-appropriate educational, recreational, and creative activities that promote students’ learning, engagement, and teamwork.

Demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with students, parents/guardians, teachers, and other school staff regarding student progress, behavior, and concerns.

Apply positive behavior and social-emotional support strategies to help students develop communication, cooperation, problem-solving, and positive interpersonal skills.
