Opportunity Summary 

Step Up Tutoring is seeking students to provide 1-on-1 virtual tutoring to 2nd-6th grade students to help build fundamental math and literacy skills and to provide
support and encouragement. All tutoring will take place virtually! No prior tutoring experience is needed. This opportunity requires a minimum of a 14 week commitment (2 weeks to onboard, train and finish background check) 12 WEEK MINIMUM of tutoring..even if this goes beyond the end of the class. We will build a schedule based on the number of hours you wish to work..with 2 hours being the minimum. The majority of tutoring hours are between 3-8pm weekdays. 

We have a strict 3 month of tutoring commitment due to the age of our young students and ideal candidates stay longer than 12 weeks. We ask if you cannot commit to working with a student for 12 weeks, please do not choose this for your service learning position.

Students being tutored may have a disability and are under 18 as they are in 2nd - 6th grade.This opportunity is completely REMOTE. We have a team of people dedicated to the volunteer experience. Staff members have office hours and are available to reach out to if issues come up or for questions and guidance.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Time management, coaching, mentoring and tutoring skills, professional communication and problem resolution skills. They will also learn how to have fun working with their student using an easy to follow provided program which will engage their student and make it easy for them to build the skills they need to thrive academically.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive two hours of training hosted by a Step Up team member and will also have access to additional training modules in their tutor portal. They will also have access to an AI tutor assistant.
