ASAM 230 Service Learning: Viet Rainbow of OCAt — Viet Rainbow of Orange County

Viet Rainbow of Orange County (VROC) is a grassroots nonprofit organization that empowers and supports LGBTQ+ Vietnamese and other LGBTQ+ communities in Orange County through community building, leadership development, advocacy, wellness, education, and research. Service learners will support community organizing, advocacy, and civic engagement efforts that serve LGBTQ+ communities and other historically marginalized populations in Orange County. Service activities may include education and/or experience in community outreach, research, coalition-building, social media campaigns, and engaging with the campus community and local stakeholders to better understand community needs and priorities. Students may also contribute to initiatives that promote informed community participation, increase awareness of local decision-making processes, and encourage greater civic engagement. VROC is committed to fostering inclusive communities where people have the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to meaningfully participate in shaping the issues that affect their lives.
