Laboratory Technician InternAt — Accumark Labs

As a Laboratory Technician Intern at Accumark labs, the core focus will involve:

• Preparing samples for analysis in accordance with established SOPs, maintaining accurate documentation, chain of custody, and adherence to laboratory safety protocols throughout

• Performing accurate weighing, dilutions, extractions, and other routine sample handling under the direction of senior laboratory staff

• Performing routine laboratory maintenance including glassware cleaning,
consumable stocking, mobile phase preparation, and waste handling

• Recording all work legibly and contemporaneously in laboratory notebooks and applicable data systems

• Maintaining clean, organized, and properly stocked work areas, including glassware and consumables

• Reporting sample, preparation, or instrument observations promptly to a Laboratory Technician II or supervisor

Training:

Interns will meet with the lab mangaer, who will personally oversee each intern's experience, ensuring consistent guidance, meaningful work assignments, and an open line of communication throughout the semester. Having navigated this path myself, I know how much it matters to have someone invested in your growth, and I'm committed to being that person for every student we bring on.

There will be daily check in's with the intern to see how their progress is, and is the appropriate work being done. The interns will read SOPs and practice hands on initial of how to go through the process of sample preparation and are given feedback on what is good or needs additional training on.

Learning Outcomes:

Interns will gain hands-on experience with instruments that are among the most sought-after on a chemistry resume: UHPLCs, LC-MS, MP-AES, PCR systems, and Endotoxin testing platforms. This will directly prepare students for roles in pharmaceutical, biotech, and analytical industries.

All of our testing is performed in accordance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards. Interns will develop familiarity with the terminology, documentation, and quality expectations that define professional laboratory practice skills.

Students will build a comprehensive technical skill set including micro pipetting, serial dilutions, HPLC sample preparation, sterile technique, calibration curve development, and working within a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), which are the core competencies any hiring manager in the analytical/biochemistry field would expect.

Risk Note:

We have an EHS training within our organization that students undergo in order to understand what chemicals are harmful and what to do in a situation where there is a lab safety issue.

Students are required to wear lab appropriate clothing, as well as wear the appropriate lab safety equipment. This spans from gloves, safety glasses as well as lab coats.
