Advocacy and Outreach for Aspiring ScholarsAt — CSUSM Aspiring Scholars Program
Students will work collaboratively as a team with Aspiring Scholars staff to support awareness, outreach, and fundraising efforts for the CSUSM Aspiring Scholars Program, an inclusive post-secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities. Service-learning activities may include brainstorming and developing ideas for awareness and fundraising campaigns, creating promotional and informational materials, supporting recruitment and outreach efforts, and representing the program at on-campus and local community booths, fairs, and advertisement or recruitment events.
Through this experience, students will gain hands-on experience in community engagement, advocacy, outreach, teamwork, and nonprofit fundraising while helping expand awareness and opportunities for students with intellectual disabilities in higher education.
All students will complete a two-hour online video training series.
Students will be trained on and expected to follow campus safety policies.
Students must be accepted or currently enrolled students in the CSUSM Aspiring Scholars Program. If not an Aspiring Scholars, students can be peer mentors for our program and must be approved by an Aspiring Scholars staff before applying.
