In combination with other course service-learning objectives and group project goals, the opportunity will consist of the student overseeing the collection and management of research materials to serve as a cultural resource and archive in the overarching class project. Student may compile journal articles, or research topics in assistance to other student projects and in tandem with service learning. Students will consider concepts covered in the course to address use of cultural resources in applied anthropology projects. Opportunity will address the logistics of field work and collaborative as well as participatory research and secondary data collection. Specific attention should be given to making resources culturally relevant, contemporary in nature, and accessible to other researchers for use in interactive projects.
- Gather, organize, and manage cultural resources for use in research, outreach, or engagement.
- Prepare data for archiving as well as for use in methodological tools for research.
- Edit and make files culturally and logistically accessible for use in interactive community platforms (infographics / tables).
- Research and gather literature relevant to student projects.
- Student is mentored in community engagement strategies and outreach methods with teams and service partners.
- Student is trained in cultural resource management and encouraged to explore culturally appropriate installations and exhibits.
- Student is guided in field methods and data storage and management.
- Student improves skills in research, data collection, and literature reviews.
