Grief Peer Support Groups for 1st -12th Students At — New Hope Grief Support Community

Opportunity Summary

Everyone will experience grief in their lifetime, and the death of a parent/friend at a young age is very difficult. At New Hope, our mission is to bring hope and healing into the lives of bereaved adults, children, and families. Through our 8-week grief support groups, in a safe and caring environment, we support grieving students through their grief journey helping them to normalize the grief process and to remind them that they are not alone. This is a great opportunity to receive grief & loss training and then practice what you have learned by co-facilitating a grief support group with elementary, middle, or high school students.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

Students will learn about various grief models, best practices in grief support, and facilitation skills. They will gain a greater understanding of how to walk with young people in grief and give them the tools and support they need to move forward in life.

Opportunity Training

Students will participate in a 2-part training led by our Director of Bereavement Services and other veteran New Hope Facilitators. In the training, students will learn about various grief models, best practices in supporting grieving students, and how to implement and use the New Hope curriculum to co-facilitate groups.
