Service-Learning OpportunitiesAt — Juneteenth Celebration of Ventura County
A recent survey, designed & conducted by Capstone students under Rachel Soper's guidance, is in need of evaluation. The survey was an integral part of the American Journey featuring Forgotten Images event that took place at the Grand Salon over 3 days in March 2022. The project will culminate in a formal presentation to JCVC about the level of knowledge and interest Ventura County has about Juneteenth.
Participants will learn how to apply academic rigor to the formal analysis of raw data. They will identify potential weaknesses or gaps in the data and learn how to design follow up questions to fill the gaps. They will also learn how to prepare informative presentations to non-academic audiences. They will learn how to derive conclusions that can be translated into real world actions and activities in the community.
Training will be a combination of direct teaching and guidance from Rachel Soper as well as directly working with the Project Contact. The Project Contact is responsible to ensure the students understand the potential for real world actions to be driven by their informative analysis and presentation of the data.
There are no specific safety requirements for this opportunity.
