CIRM: Modulo Bio PlacementAt — CIRM: Modulo Bio
Must be enrolled in BIOT 498 and a participant in the CIRM: Bridges to Stem Cell Research Program.
Modulo Bio is a neuroimmunology company that harnesses the power of machine learning, patient iPSC derived cellular modeling and large scale CRISPR screening to develop therapies for neurodegenerative diseases like ALS and Frontotemporal dementia that currently have no effective treatments. Our team specializes in integrating powerful tools like stem cell engineering, multiomics data analysis, and high-throughput automation to discover and modulate neural cells into disease-context and patient-specific protective states.
The student will perform experiments using patient-derived iPSCs and be responsible for maintaining and differentiating these cells into neural cell types. They will perform experimentation that is related to discovering novel therapeutics for neurodegeneration. These tasks will enhance the student's knowledge in neuroscience, stem cells, imaging, cell function, and generation/analysis of omics data.
The student will furthering thier knowledge in iPSC modeling of neurodegeneration and learning how to analyze imaging and omic data. The work will greatly expand thier knowledge in these areas: in wetlab skills, experimental design, and computational and statistical analysis. They will also learn aspects of industrial R&D and scientific communication to develop translational skills.
The company has a rigorous onboarding plan for incoming Research Associates. Individuals are thoroughly trained in all SOPs, brought up to speed on company goals and culture. They are required to review primary literature and set goals that cover skills, knowledge, company/position, and career development. Performance is tracked and regularly evaluated as well as attainment of goals and training.
