Service-Learning OpportuntiesAt — Storyteller Children's Center at State Street
The program supports children from 18 months to 5 years old. As you engulf yourself in your education in college, here at Storyteller you will have the opportunity to engage yourself in the skills connected to your educational focus. Having this experience with children will support you in gaining the necessary skills to be an outstanding teacher. Using these hours that you volunteer also can count towards your California teacher permit as expected by the California Teaching permit matrix. We welcome you to Storyteller and are excited to have you here!
Storyteller Children's Center is interested in working directly with faculty from varied disciplines to build service-learning projects that support course outcomes.
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned and practiced all aspects of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct, including practicing their responsibility to children, families, co-workers, and their responsibilities to their future employers.
Students will also learn about the mission, services, and population this organization serves and the issues that impact this population.
In-person experiences training.
COVID-19 is still a factor as most programs are experiencing COVID-19 impacts. We will wear masks if there is a COVID-19 exposure/ positive case on-site and continue doing so for 10 days. Considering an outbreak there may be times when the center may close but hours are available via Zoom if needed.
