We serve grieving adults, children, and families who experience the death of a loved one due to a range of death types.1st - 12th-grade school-based grief groups or facilitator opportunities are on school campuses working with children & teens. We pair up student interns/new facilitators with experienced facilitators for supervision and mentoring. We have mentor facilitators that co-lead with students facilitators. All students will have both a mentor facilitator and supervision with the Director of Bereavement Services. Fall Students have the opportunity to work with our One-Day Family Grief Camp (last Sat in October). This all day camp is preceded by two training events for a total of 9 hours of grief facilitation training.
Students will learn relevant grief theory, models, and facilitation skills. They will gain first hand experiences working with children, teens, and/or families who are grieving. School based grief groups provide a curriculum based 8-week grief groups. Family Camp opportunities (Fall only) allow students to facilitate grief groups in the context of a one-day camp experience.
School Groups - 2 x 2.5 hour training events Family Camp (Fall only) - 1 x 7 hour training (on a Saturday) & 1 x 2 hour curriculum Training on a Thursday night
Students will be trained and supervised for safety and supervision.
