Teaching assistant for music, dance, film or art classes and/or events - Palenke ArtsAt — Palenke Arts
The mission of Palenke Arts is to educate and inspire the community through the arts. Our vision is to create a vibrant and inclusive multicultural arts center in the City of Seaside, offering courses and performances in a multitude of art forms.
Palenke Arts provides a space that does not exist elsewhere in Seaside: a dedicated multicultural arts center offering free and low cost arts-based classes and events to many families who would not traditionally be able to afford them. We aim to address the issue of inequity in the arts by imbuing our programs with high-interest, culturally-relevant offerings that are accessible for everyone.
Palenke Arts is looking for service learners who are interested in bringing their skills, talents, and time to support the dynamic and emerging organization. Students are able to provide specialized knowledge of specific instrument/art discipline (Chorus, Visual Arts, Hip hop dance, Digital Storytelling/Filmmaking, zumba, Ballet Folklórico, piano, violin, guitar, ukulele instruction, audio production), in addition to general menorship and support of the students (& adults) taking classes and attending events.
Palenke Arts asks for your willingness to work within given schedule, flexibility to support special events, to share your knowledge of instrument or other art disciplines. We are seeking students who wish to be an engaging member of an intergenerational, global, and respectful environment.
Service Learners will assist the Palenke community by serving in a myriad of roles during their hours, including the cleaning and prepping of materials and spaces.

10 Service Learners
Interested students must attend an MPUSD meeting to get clearance to serve at this site.
Every student will receive a training through MPUSD on how to interact with youth. Additionally, our Program Manager will conduct a short orientation for each student and the master teacher will give directions as to the specific duties for every service learner.
There will be weekly written reflections and ongoing support for all service learners to align with Palenke Arts' values and mission, as well as with the course's learning outcomes.
