Human Development Leadership InternAt — North County Outreach Initiative

Opportunity Summary 

Our mission is to develop healthy leaders and community, one leader, one child, one family at a time. We serve as advocates for the children and families in greatest need in our local community. Our interns become an integral part of our collaborative team of advocates and develop as healthy leaders and community builders. Our Human Development Leadership Interns would have the opportunity to assess and address the academic and social emotional needs of a small group of children and their families in greatest need: low income, English language learners, underrepresented in higher education and underserved in K-12 schools.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

1. The culture of a collaborative outreach initiative serving children and families in greatest need to flourish in life.

2. A collaborate leadership style focused on serving the needs of others.

3. An assessment-based approach to academic tutoring and social emotional learning

4. A process for facilitating life groups focused on health, wholeness, and well-being.

Opportunity Training 

The HD Intern will be offered an orientation to our outreach initiative and his/her role in the initiative. Expectations and processes will be reviewed.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The HD Intern will need to complete a safe schools certification assessment and provide TB testing results.
