Opportunity Summary 

This is a great opportunity for college students in a criminal justice class, or for students that want to go in the field of teaching while learning to work with youth and adults in trouble. Students will have the opportunity to do 1 on 1 mentoring with youth involved in the juvenile justice system or alternative schools, as well as adults in jail or prison faciltiies. 

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Learn and understand the criminal justice system, help young people learn to make better choices, and to help adults as well to want to get out of prison while getting a degree in the system.

Opportunity Training 

MATFA trains students to do the tasks and mentoring for this program. Many mentors stay on even after their internship is complete to assist MATFA further.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Practice self awareness when speaking with youth in program. Mentors will receive training on this topic. 

Opportunity Application Instructions 

This is a wonderful program for students that join the MATFA team, all that is required is that you love to work with people that are in trouble and incarcerated as well with youth in the school system.
