Social media and newsletter outreachAt — Art Abilities
Art Abilities is formed to empower intellectually disadvantaged people by helping them in their creative expression through art. Art Abilities provide art workshops and classes for intellectually disabled kids and adults to promote their creative expression and integration into the community. Our goal is to help our students establish themselves as artists and be able to make a name for themselves. Service learner's help will provide a safe environment to thrive and nurture their skills. We would love to follow the same principles for our learning students. We believe in working while having fun.
For this opportunity, service learners will assist in creating and posting social media content, as well as creating a newsletter supporting our outreach efforts. May need personal media devices in order to capture and create content.
4 service learners
Requirements:
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Computer Literacy
- Driver's License
- Must be 18 or older
Students will be guided through the process and knowledge about the organization and its functions. They will get to talk to the current social media person and it would be teamwork of two people working together unless the students want to work by themselves.
We believe in guidance and nurturing to help our service-learning students accomplish their goals. We do regular meetings and follow through to make sure students are comfortable in their roles.
Interested students can contact us to let us know about themselves (identify as CSUMB service learner, courses currently taking, major, interest areas, and experience) and possibly schedule a call, if needed.
