Opportunity Summary 

The student intern is seeking hands-on experience in elementary education and community-based programming. They are interested in facilitating a movement and dance program designed for elementary-aged students, supporting physical activity, creativity, and social-emotional development. This role is especially valuable for students pursuing a degree in elementary education, as it provides direct classroom and youth engagement experience.

In addition, the intern is eager to support organizational communications through social media management and newsletter writing, helping to promote programs, share impact stories, and engage the community. They are also interested in event planning and assisting with fundraising efforts, including organizing events, outreach, and logistical support to help advance the organization’s mission.

Overall, the intern is motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic about contributing to youth development, creative programming, and nonprofit or community organization growth while gaining practical, real-world experience.

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to successfully perform their responsibilities. Training will include an orientation to the organization’s mission, values, and program goals. Students will be guided in best practices for working with elementary-aged students, including age-appropriate instruction, classroom management, and safety protocols.

Specific training will be provided in facilitating movement and dance activities, including lesson planning, adapting activities for different learning styles, and promoting inclusive and supportive environments. Students will also receive training in social media management and newsletter writing, including content creation, branding guidelines, and ethical online communication.

Additionally, students will be trained in event planning and fundraising support, covering event logistics, outreach strategies, teamwork, and basic fundraising principles. Throughout the opportunity, students will receive mentorship, feedback, and supervision to support skill development and professional growth.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students must meet nonprofit or school district safety requirements, which may include a background check, TB test clearance, and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Training in child safety, mandated reporting, emergency procedures, and safe movement practices will be provided.
