Opportunity Summary 

Why volunteer? Long Beach BLAST connects college students with at-promise youth facing adversity, so ALL students in the Long Beach community are able to reach their full potential. You will be paired on-on-one and foster a relationship with a student ranging from 6-18 years old; to work toward academic gains, strengthen character development, and encourage higher education and future thinking. Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Build and support effective relationships. Network and connect with likeminded individuals and potential employers. Facilitate reflective thinking with mentee. Goal Setting for personal growth and learning. Provide guidance and feedback from personal and learned experience. Professional growth in an educational setting.

Opportunity Training 

Student will participate in a mandatory 3-hour training that will cover BLAST requirements, role and responsibilities, code of conduct, and provide enriching social-emotional activities and scenarios to help prepare them for their 8 week commitment.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Safety and code of conduct responsibilities will be discussed in our training.
