Safe Families for Children, Monterey BayAt — Safe Families for Children, Monterey Bay
Safe Families for Children is a non-profit with the mission of preventing child abuse and neglect and strengthening parents with the ultimate goal of keeping families together and out of the foster care system. We are a volunteer-fueled prevention based program that connects community to families in crisis in a variety of ways from hosting children, to mentoring, and coaching parents on life steps to help them bring stability and safety into their lives. Learning opportunities include all aspects of running a local non-profit- family intake and assessment, volunteer mobilization and the vetting process, church and other community agency partnership development, fund raising and grant writing, database entry and client records upkeep, interaction with families and children at risk, social media and newsletter development, and more. We would happily seek an intern to assist in any of these categories. Strong intern characteristics may include: professional comfortability working with (or learning to) families in a variety of crisis situations (domestic violence, homelessness, substance recovery, mental health, incarceration, etc), good computer skills to assist with data entry (tracking of families and possible further research), knowledge of social media promotion and marketing, creativity and aptitude to writing (newsletter and grant writing), etc.

Student will be further trained, specifically depending on areas of interest, which will include shadowing director, one on one training, as well as option to join National Zoom meetings. We hold a twice monthly staff meeting, time TBD.
