Service Learning OpportunitiesAt — Ventura County Family Justice Center
Opportunities include supporting victim advocacy, office procedural work, reception, offering hospitality to clients, data collection and analysis (if appropriate), developing educational materials and social media campaigns, planning and implementing youth activities, tabling at community outreach events, and more.
- Victim Hospitality – assisting victims/survivors with paperwork, offering drinks/food, cleaning up the lobby, organizing supplies, toys, etc
- Advocacy Support – assisting with workshops (only if they are committed to long-term volunteering), assisting with paperwork (making packets, updating forms, possibly helping victims complete certain forms)
- Special Projects – both long and short term – typically require already having a specialty interest/background/skillset - data and reporting, social media, educational materials development, etc
- Camp Hope/Pathways to Promise – camp counselors (next session is August 2024)
Learn about victim advocacy, research, and outreach.
Will receive presentations and opportunity to shadow others doing the work.
Clients are on site for sensitive and difficult reasons. It is important to be professional and aware of the physical and psychological safety needs of clients.
