Opportunity Summary 

Program Description: 

The Promise Program provides 2 years of free tuition to first-time college students. We want to help students with the cost of college by covering the enrollment and health fees through the North Orange Promise Fee Waiver.

The program provides wrap-around services to first-time and continuing Promise students. There is no income requirement, just to be a first-time college student and a California Resident. 

Intern Duties:

As an intern, your responsibilities would include: assisting with social and educational events to connect students to Fullerton College and Promise, facilitating workshops to ensure students remain eligible for the North Orange Promise Fee Waiver, creating accessible and easy-to-digest content for online platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Canvas) to promote events and notify students of upcoming deadlines, participating in staff meetings, staff development, and evaluation, and overall gain leadership, communication, & presentation experience

    Provide friendly customer service to all who enter
    the Promise and First Year Support Center
  • Respect others backgrounds, opinions, and differences on campus

Training:

Training includes a general orientation with our Student Services Specialists to learn about the Promise and First Year Support Center services, Promise Program eligibility, office procedures, and Fullerton College overview including policies and safety guidelines. Our team meets once a week and has weekly scheduled one-on-one meetings for supervision. Shadowing with the Promise Coaches to observe student interactions until comfortable answering on your own.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this internship, the student will be able to assist high school seniors and other interested individuals in preparing to attend Fullerton College, connect with current Promise Students to ensure they remain in good standing with the Promise Program, and collaborate with other offices such as Outreach, EOPS, Counseling, and others on events and resources for Fullerton College students.
