Sexual Assault Response Team Advocate/ Intern At — Center for Community Solutions (CCS)
You can provide emotional support, crisis intervention, advocacy and essential information to sexual assault survivors at their evidentiary exam. You'll act as a liaison between the survivor and the other members of the Sexual Assault Response Team: law enforcement and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. Your advocacy is essential to helping survivors through a difficult time and ensuring their needs and wants around the investigation are met.

Crisis Intervention Training (65hrs training). Certified by the State of California, Office of Emergency. Department Training- more focused training on role's duties and responsibilities. Ongoing training on multiple cultural and social topics.
It is important to mention that the nature of the work might be activating or triggering for some people. Working with survivors might be a heavy lift for many of us, but also a rewarding experience in so many ways.
The Intern will require to submit their application online. The organization will be in contact with the intern for an interview. if all sides are in agreement, and after a background clearance is obtained (cost covered by the organization), the intern will be set for the training and shall start after its completion. Training value is $250. All interns and volunteers receive it for free. This opportunity requires 8-12 months commitment.
