Marketing & Events AssistantAt — SteppingUP/OCCHC
Orange County Community Housing Corporation (OCCHC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission to transition extremely low-income families towards greater self-sufficiency through housing and education. While providing a safe place to call home, OCCHC’s signature program, SteppingUP, provides the knowledge and resources to step up to self-sufficieny.
The Marketing Assistant will carry out this mission by working directly with the Director of Fund Development and Marketing to implement strategies that will assist in building the OCCHC/SteppingUP brand throughout the community. Areas of focus include traditional marketing strategies, digital marketing, journalism, public relations, social media and events.
Tasks
• Interview SteppingUP alumni and families to share with our donors.
• Develop and prepare effective written materials for use in all areas of development.
• Assist with advertising, public relations and marketing, including materials related to donor development, recruitment and retention.
• Help manage online social media strategy and campaigns.
• Assist with the development and execution of annual and special fundraising campaigns, events and activities.
• Attend events representing OCCHC/SteppingUP.
• Assist Director of Fund Development & Marketing with administration as needed.
Training
OCCHC/SteppingUP will provide an induction training to familiarize the intern with the organization's mission, vision and values. The internship will be a hands-on experience where the Director of Fund Development & Marketing will assign tasks for the intern to complete before the end of the semester. Assignments will include, but are not limited to, interviewing clients, writing press releases, creating marketing material, social media event planning and researching grants. The Director of Development & Marketing will guide the student with all assignments. These assignments will teach the student how to gather and analyze information, manage time, and communicate with others.
Learning Outcomes
The student will learn to effectively communicate with our audience (supporters/donors) by writing newsletters and press releases and by creating media packages, brochures and flyers.
