TitanWELL Substance Intervention & Prevention InternAt — CSUF - Student Health and Counseling Center

Opportunity Summary 

TitanWELL Intern will be responsible for supporting the Naloxone Distribution Project by expanding the program through monthly pop-up opioid overdose prevention training events, training students/staff virtually, partnering with campus groups to conduct training, and operating the distribution of naloxone. The intern will also be responsible for developing the IRB for the evaluation, collection, and data analysis of pre-and post-survey.

Learning Outcomes  

  1. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming, and software, as appropriate.
    2. Interpret results of data analysis for public health research, policy, or practice.
    3. Design a population-based policy, program project, or intervention.
    4. Communicate audience-appropriate public health content, both in writing and through oral presentation.
    5. Perform effectively in interprofessional teams.

Training  

  1. Provide in-person and virtual training on the topics of alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, opioids, and naloxone.
    2. Offer online training modules in regard to program development, implementation and evaluation.
    3. Provide feedback, guidance on outreach and facilitation.

Tasks/Duties  

  1. Design and implement outdoor opioid overdose prevention trainings once a month, this includes training everyone who comes by the event, managing peer health educators, collecting evaluations.
    2. Promoting the event through social media and other communication strategies.
    3. Analyzing and interpreting data results from the pre and post survey.
    4. Working with Substance Intervention & Prevention team to facilitate workshops, both outdoor and virtual.
    5. Utilizing writing skills to develop and IRB for the naloxone distribution program.
