Opportunity Summary 

The Priority Center (TPC) is seeking a dedicated Accounting Intern or Core Volunteer to assist the Accounting/Finance department with activities that support the programs and services of TPC.

Our mission is to deliver life-changing programs to assist people in crisis by giving them the tools and support necessary to end the generational cycle of trauma- including prevention of child abuse and neglect, through early intervention and mental health services and advocacy. 

Type: Unpaid Intern / Core Volunteer

** Interns receive college credit, core volunteers receive resume enhancement

Responsibilities/ Tasks:

  • Distribution and allocation of monthly invoices
  • Reconciliation of various employee benefits deductions
  • Posting journal entries
  • Reconciling credit card activity
  • Updating purchase order tracking worksheet
  • Filing and other various tasks as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Has education in the following or related areas: Accounting, Finance, Econ, or Business Admin
  • Previous internship experience is a plus, but not required 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • General computer experience including general proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • General knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability to uphold The Priority Center’s mission and vision
  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain a professional tone in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to follow communication guidelines such as: calling out, requesting time off, and office procedures
  • Ability to manage priorities and tasks including effective time management
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in a timely manner

Applicants who are chosen to will need to clear a live scan, TB test, provide an official 3- Year DMV driving record, and provide 3 professional references.

Training
Students will receive our initial general employer orientation, job shadowing, overview of assigned tasks, and skills training.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to distribute and allocate monthly invoices, reconcile various employee benefit deductions, post journal entries, reconcile credit card activity, and update purchase order tracking worksheets.
