Opportunity Summary 

Student will create illustrations to highlight the plants and world regions represented in a new self-guided learning brochure being developed by the Arboretum. Student will meet with content developer and Curator to learn more about the plants and areas in the Arboretum to include in the illustrations.

Learning Outcomes  

  1. Work closely with a client to develop illustrations for a specific project.
    2. Develop project management skills applicable in the work place.
    3. Develop time management skills to meet deadlines established by the client.
    4. Develop interpretive content for an educational institution.
    5. Develop content for public engagement.

Training  

  1. Discuss botanical illustration design, theory and nomenclature.
    2. Discuss ideas about developing interpretive content and the anticipated audience for such content.
    3. Provide feedback on weekly progress.

Tasks/Duties  

  1. Completing work on time.
    2. Developing illustrations that accurately depict the plant/region being described.
    3. Receiving feedback and implementing as requesting.
    4. Completing the entire project and seeing it go to print.
