Community Learning Center SupportAt — New Horizons
The Community Learning Center (Learning Hubs) at New Horizons is where individual adult participants (Members) pursue their dreams, learning functional living and work training skills. They also have the opportunity to explore creative expression through arts and crafts and media arts, thereby finding growth through self-expression and self-advocacy. Students supporting the Community Learning Center will be able to engage Members on a one-on-one basis, assisting them with various curriculum activities aimed to empower Members through learning.
Students will have learned how to effectively engage and support Members on a one-on-one basis, by way of prompts and proven methods, utilized in the classrooms by our Community Learning Center Instructors.
Training and orientation will be provided at the start, and throughout their service, which touches on how to appropriately engage Members, redirecting behaviors, safety, etc.
Students will need to fill out a Volunteer Application, in addition to the receipt of the Volunteer Manual, Background Check Release form, and a Badge Policy form.
