JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator and direction of the Director of Community Care, performs administrative and clerical duties as they relate to special event fundraising and public/community relations.
Development & Community Outreach Intern
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use good judgment in contact with staff and public. Requires excellent organizational skills and knowledge of standard business practices and office procedures. Requires working knowledge of computer applications and ability to type accurately. Must be available February 23rd for Love Grows by Giving wine tasting. Willingness to work weekends or evenings as needed. Ability to work under pressure to meet program's needs and organizational deadlines. Clear speaking and hearing essential for communication, near visual acuity essential for reading. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical demands include standing or walking 50% or more of the workday, and bending, twisting, lifting, climbing stairs, and stooping 50% or more of the workday. Requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance, lift greater than 25 pounds with assistance, flexion and extension of wrists and arms 80% or more of the workday.
Normally requires a valid California drive/s license and reliable transportation. Must also complete approved TB Test/Health Screen, CPR and First Aid certificate (may be completed after employment), and any additional screenings as required by Community Care Licensing.
Tasks:
• Assists Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator in preparation of public information materials, i.e., newsletters, brochures, and audio-visual presentations, and social media posts
• Develops and maintains positive community relations and conducts outreach as needed.
• Assist in soliciting monetary and in kind donations and representing the program at speaking engagements.
• Assists with major fundraising events.
• Assists with the design and development of creative fundraising materials.
• Provides backup clerical support as required and as authorized by Program Director.
• Market the Program to potential new donors and program supporters.
• Maintains knowledge of current events and developments in the profession
• Keeps supervisor informed of activities and problems.
• Promotes best interests of the Agency.
• Performs other related duties as required.
Training:
